I am a mother of 3 children aged 13 – 16. They all currently study in a traditional Direct Subsidy Scheme (DSS) secondary school located at Central & Western District.
Doris has taught them singing, piano and Mandarin oral since they were primary three. With the afford put by Doris, my children has improved a lot in all areas. Also they have obtained brilliant results at public competition.
You may want to know why we have such long relationship with Doris.
As parents, we always want our children to be the best. However, teaching children is not an easy job.
Apart from their innate ability and afford, parents and teachers also play an important role during their growth.
Seems like Doris and I, we always open to talk about our observation on children’s problems in every aspects. We even try to formulate different plans / solutions together to help our children growth.
I really appreciate Doris’ teaching attitude and caring to my children.

Doris was very pleasant when she was teaching my daughter. She created a positive tone and atmosphere in class. Children were happy to learn and interact in class. She used effective teaching skill, such as Ping Yin, communicating with students by practicing the words that were important to the recital.
My daughter won a few prizes that are recognized by Hong Kong Speech Festival held by Hong Kong schools Music and Speech Association. Most important was that Doris trying her best to share her knowledge of Chinese to students and encourage them to excel in anyway they can.

Ms. Doris is a professional teacher with rich experience and love and patience. I have seen that from the initial eldest daughter’s willful and naughty resistance, to the teacher gradually changing the teaching strategy suitable for the child according to my daughter’s characteristics, my daughter’s self-confidence is full of progress and very fast. 我女儿在和Doris老师上课之前已经是在香港的国际学校八年纪的学生了。但是她的中文不是太好，很多词汇都不理解，认字不多，所以在写作和阅读方面有很大的困难。后来跟Doris老师上课一年以后，孩子在口语表达方面，写作和认字方面进步巨大，尤其是纠正了以前会认一些复杂的汉字，却不懂基础的汉字和语法。现在孩子的词汇量逐步增加，写作不再觉得困难有压力，写的文章受到学校中文老师和同学家长的称赞。
Doris老师还擅长心理辅导，我家孩子以前性格内向，经常摆着生人勿近的面孔，非常高冷，喜欢躲在自己的房间做所有的事情，甚至喜欢把饭菜拿到房间。因此我们常常会发生不愉快，我希望她能多些时间在外活动，家人一起坐在饭桌上，多些交流，但她非常抗拒。于是我便向Doris请教，寻求帮助，希望以第三者的身份去和孩子沟通。Doris在听了我的介绍后，会在和孩子讨论写作课题时，寻找一个契机和孩子谈心，鼓励她说出自己的心声，了解她的情况，并引导她去解决成长中的问题。之后Doris也会与我沟通，经常提醒我在与孩子相处的过程中注意方式方法，尽可能避免争执，多站在孩子的角度考虑，妈妈也要管理好自己的情绪，把爱意表达出来。确实孩子越来越开朗，懂得处理自己在学校和其他生活方面的问题。现在我和女儿经常靠在一起聊聊天，甚至聊学校里同学怎么交男女朋友，一起购物，讨论怎么染头发好看。看起来一切都很好。Doris通过她的课堂，能够对青少年额外提供心理辅导，教导孩子面对问题解决问题，尤为可贵！

I have 5 kids. Four of them are learning Chinese with Ms. Doris. My kids love her class. They always get excited when it is time for her class. She also made a special class plan for my kids that really fit on my kids’ Chinese level.
All my kids speak very little Chinese because English is their first language. After learning Chinese with Ms. Doris, they start to talk in Chinese sometimes. That make me so happy for them. They learned Chinese through games, videos and competitions. Ms. Doris class attract my kids have more interest to learn Chinese. Also Ms. Doris always gives me some opinions for solving problems with kids. Sometimes it is hard to deal with kids especially the teenagers. I really appreciate Ms. Doris helps and opinions.
